Finding His Rhythm: KayVee on Authenticity, Late-Night Creativity, and Building a Lasting Legacy

In a musical landscape that often demands conformity, rising Afrobeats and Afropop artist KayVee is carving out a lane entirely his own. By fusing rich cultural influences, raw emotion, and an unwavering commitment to his unique path, KayVee is quietly building a movement.

We sat down with the artist to discuss his sound, his creative process, and what lies ahead.

For KayVee, finding his identity wasn't about adding more to his repertoire—it was about stripping away the noise and embracing his roots.

"I think the KayVee sound really clicked when I stopped trying to fit myself into one box and started fully embracing my cultural background... Once I stopped trying to sound like what I thought people wanted to hear and started allowing those influences to come through naturally, everything started to feel more authentic."

By grounding his sound in the rhythms he grew up around, he discovered that true resonance comes from self-expression rather than trend-chasing.

While many artists begin with a rigid conceptual blueprint, KayVee's process is far more fluid and intuitive. Late nights, quiet spaces, and pure feeling fuel his music.

"I can hear a beat and immediately get a certain emotion or picture in my head, and I’ll build from there."

Much of his best work comes when the rest of the world goes quiet, allowing him to step into his own head without distraction.

He keeps his pen sharp by studying heavyweights in the scene—including Shallipopi, Tekno, and Rema—to break down what makes their artistry stand out.

"I like experimenting and not overthinking things too early because sometimes the best parts of a song come from just being in the moment."

If KayVee's life were a film, the opening scene would be set to his standout track, “Omalicha”. The song captures the quintessential elements of his art: contagious energy, rich Afrobeats melodies, and an underlying sense of heart.

"'Omalicha' represents a side of my sound that I really enjoy—the Afrobeats influence, the energy, and the more melodic side of KayVee. But it’s also a song about love... I’m a giver of love because I genuinely believe we all deserve love and a happy ending.

As his fanbase grows, KayVee wants his supporters to feel inspired by the raw, unfolding reality of his growth. He isn't waiting for the finish line to share his message—he wants people to connect with the work in real time.

When asked what keeps him grounded amidst the fast pace of the music industry, KayVee points to a core mantra:

“Don’t let the speed of somebody else’s journey make you question your own.”

"Music can make you feel like you’re behind when you see someone else winning, but everyone’s journey is different," KayVee explains. "I remind myself to focus on improving my craft, staying consistent, and building something that lasts rather than worrying about how quickly somebody else is moving."

KayVee isn't slowing down anytime soon. With new music, visually striking projects, and live performances on the horizon, his focus remains sharp: reaching new audiences and expanding the "KayVee world."

As he puts it: "This is still the beginning."
